Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer a packing service?
Yes. We offer both full & part packing services. Our team arrive at your property prior to moving day, equipped with any materials required (boxes, tape, bubble wrap etc.), and carefully pack all of your belongings fit for transportation. We call this our 'platinum package' and all materials are included in the price. This is a great way to be prepared on the day and saves you one big, daunting job!
What size are your removals boxes?
Medium: 18" x 13" x 13"
Large: 18" x 18" x 20"
Extra large: 18" x 18" x 30"
Bottle box: holds 20 bottles
Wardrobe boxes (for hire or purchase)
How many people will be there on the day?
Our standard home removals team is a minimum of 2 men, but this depends entirely on the size of your move. We always ensure we have enough hands on deck to get the job completed in a timely fashion.
Will you take my things to my room of choice?
Yes. Providing access is clear we will always aim to put items into their new rooms. It would be very helpful if you label your items, so there's minimal disruption to yourself.
What time do you start?
Depending on the circumstances of the move, our usual start time is between 0800 - 0900 am.
What if my completion date changes?
Let us know as soon as you can. Any deposits already paid will be lost. We do not transfer them to new dates as we cannot guarantee we will be available on your new date.
Do I need to defrost my fridge and freezer?
Yes. This is for 2 reasons. A) It makes the unit more hazardous to lift and transport. B) If there is any hold up during your move, such as traffic or a delay in getting the keys, your food is likely to defrost and water could leak into the removals vehicle.
Do I need to empty my drawers?
If it is a large, heavy unit, we would recommend emptying the drawers. You should always remove fragile items from units, and protect them accordingly. If the contents are otherwise light please feel free to leave it full.
Will my items be protected in the removals van?
Yes. We come equipped with plenty of removals blankets, straps and rails, to ensure you items do not move around during the journey, or become knocked, damaged or scratched.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We have an extensive public liability policy, alongside Goods In Transit insurance for all aspects of removals and courier work. You can opt to increase the baseline cover for extra peace of mind.
What if I have more items than I told you about?
If significantly more, we cannot guarantee we will be able to move the surplus. If we are able to accommodate, we will agree an additional charge with yourself inline with your original quote.
Do you charge a key waiting fee?
Yes, from 2pm onwards we charge £20 per man, per hour. We can advise how many staff will be present during your move at the point of quoting / booking.
Do I need to dismantle my furniture?
If an item cannot get through doorways it will need to be dismantled. If you can do this prior to moving day, that would be fantastic. If you're short on tools, time, or even patience, we do offer a dismantling service where we come and take the job off your hands. Dismantling & reassembly is included in our silver, gold and platinum packages.
Can you dispose of furniture I no longer need?
Yes. We are happy to take old furniture off your hands or drop it off at a local charity shop. Additional costs may be incurred depending on the nature of the goods.
Why don't you list your prices online?
Our prices are tailored exactly according to your needs, to ensure you always pay a fair and accurate price. With so many variables involved in the moving process, pricing by number of bedrooms simply doesn't work for our business or clients.
How far in advance do I need to book Waters Removals & Storage?
We tend to book up 1-2 weeks in advance. Lots of people get in touch to chat to us about their house move before they even have a date - this is great! The more notice we have, the more likely we will have space in our diary to accommodate your move.
How long will the removals service take?
This depends upon the scale of your move, the access, the amount of furniture you have, and the type of furniture you have. If you speak with us regarding your personal situation, we will be able to give you a better idea at the time of quoting.
Will you visit me at home to do a quote?
Yes! We love coming out and meeting our movers. For clients based in Staffordshire, we like to do an in-house quote. If you'd rather speak with us via video call or over the phone, that is not a problem.
How do I pay?
We ask for 25% deposit to secure your move date, with the remaining balance being due on the day of the removal. Cash, bank transfer and cheque are all acceptable.
I'm worried about access to the property on the day, what should I do?
Speak with us! Together, we'll be able to come up with a solution. We may ask to come out to the property to assess the access for ourselves, or request pictures to be sent.
Can you store my items?
Yes. We have a secure storage facility in Ellenhall, Stafford fit for housing all of your home and business belongings. There is no minimum stay period, so you can store with us for 1 week or 1 year. For a free storage quote, get in touch with us!
How do I pay for storage?
We will send you a 4 weekly invoice for your storage which can be paid by cash or bank transfer.
Do you offer long distance moves?
Yes - we complete home and office removals nationwide.
When will I receive my quote?
We aim to email over your removals quote within 24 hours of viewing - often sooner!
Do you move plant pots?
Yes, and all other garden effects.
Will you remove items from the loft?
Only if there is a proper flight of stairs into the loft, and it is sufficiently boarded. Failing that, please bring down any loft items and store them in the nearest bedroom or landing area.
